Hinault, Armstrong, Indurain, Wiggins, Merckx – what have they all got in common?
They – and thousands of other riders – have all been immortalised in pictures captured by legendary cycling photographer John Pierce. It was our honour to host the world’s first retrospective of John’s work celebrating John’s work on an incredible 50 Tours de France.
John has been a friend of the Bristol Grand Prix from the start, taking incredible images of the riders as well as offering advice and guidance based on his unique experience.
If you want a history of John’s incredible career, cycling magazine Rouleur recently featured a fascinating retrospective.
But the real story of John’s career can’t be expressed in words, it demands to be done in images – so that’s exactly what we did in August 2017, when we hosted an exhibition of John’s work.
The exhibition featured a handpicked selection – chosen by John himself – detailing his career.
The exhibition received interest from across the world, and will hopefully be seen in Ireland and Australia, before making a return to Bristol.
